Thank you for visiting my website. The 2009/2010 season is over. It was a season with a great start, some ups and downs during the season and a fantastic end. In September I was in the top 10 at the ISU Junior World Grand Prix in Lake Placid. After a 6th place in the short programme and 8th in the free programme I ended up in 8th position overall - a great start to the season! In the ISU International Senior competitions I reached a position between 10th and 15th place three times. These competitions took place in Graz (Austria), Merano (Italy) and Dortmund (Germany). Following this I went to the Olympic qualification tournament in Oberstdorf feeling very good. I made a great start with all my triple jumps succeeding. However, my score came down in the last part of the programme with some careless mistakes in the pirouettes and zweefstands. As a result I fell 4 points short of the qualification level for Vancouver.
The period from December was a great time for me. For the second time I am Dutch Champion, I won the Sjoukje Dijkstra trophy for the best figure skater in the Netherlands, did well in the Junior World Championships in The Hague (despite a knee injury) and the final of the Turin World Senior Championship. In Turin I made my best ever short programme score of 47.44 points. The technical score was good enough for a tenth place in this World Championship and this felt like a real breakthrough into the international skating scene. A really good end to the season.
In April I need to develop two new programmes. Then in May I will have two weeks holiday and take my final HAVO school exams. After that I will travel to America for three months of training with a two weeks break/holiday in the first two weeks of july in France. I have enormous enthusiasm to train hard this summer so that by the end of August (I hope!!) I will be ready for a great season in 2010-2011.
