Manouk niet door eerste ronde EK

Manouk Gijsman heeft zich niet kunnen plaatsen voor de korte kur op het E.K. in Sheffield. In de voorronde moest zij bij de eerste tien eindigen om dat doel te bereiken. Zij werd 14e. Zij had het volledig in eigen hand. Als 3e rijdster in de laatste groep wist zij wat de concurrentie had gedaan. Plaatsing lag voor de hand. Na een opening met een mooie drievoudige Flip leek het dan ook goed te gaan. De tweede sprong moest een drievoudige Lutz worden, maar die werd enkel. Toch herstelde Manouk dat goed door daarna een mooie combinatie te springen van Drievoudige Salchow/dubbel Toe-loop. Prima op koers om een goede kur te rijden. Toen sloeg het noodlot toe. Twee vallen bij beide dubbel Axels brachten onzekerheid en de resterende sprongen werden dubbel in plaats van drievoudig. Een zeer teleurgestelde Manouk: "Ik kan mijzelf wel op de kop slaan. Zo stom. Ik had mij makkelijk kunnen plaatsen. Hier zal ik voorlopig wel heel erg sjagrijnig van blijven."
Toch is haar coach Zsolt Kerekes positief: "Na 18 maanden blessures kon Manouk voor het eerst weer een grote wedstrijd rijden. Pas in december, vlak voor het NK, kon zij weer normaal trainen. Als je ziet wat zij in een paar weken heeft bereikt, vind ik dat echt heel erg knap. Nu is het een kwestie van doortrainen en in korte tijd zal zij weer op topniveau rijden. Dat is een kwestie van tijd. Zij heeft het hele pakketje en beheerst alle drievoudige sprongen. Natuurlijk is zij nu even teleurgesteld, maar daar moet ze snel overheen stappen want zij weet zelf ook dat als ze zo doorgaat de resultaten vanzelf weer komen."

Thank you for visiting my website. I am plan to update my website regularly this season to share as quickly as possible all of my latest news such as competition results, press releases, photos etc.....

My most important objective is to represent the Netherlands at the 2014 Olympic games. I was well on the way to this during the 2009/2010 season but during 2010/2011 several injuries delayed my progress. However, I have now recovered completely and am in full training for the coming season.

I am now 18 and up until now have participated in all the major finals - European Championships, World Championships and Junior Worlds. This followed becoming Dutch Champion 4 times so far - Novice in 2007, Junior in 2008 and Senior in 2009 & 2010.

During the period leading up to the 2014 Olympics I want to become fully integrated into the European and World top skating environment. This is not so easy for me, as there is very little support to achieve this goal. Ice hours, coaching and training times must all be self-managed and financed. As is the case with many other sports our Federation, the KNSB, has no professional support team to lead us to the top levels of sport. We do our best, by looking at training schemes followed by top skaters in other countries, to put together effective training programmes. As well as ice training we track all other types of training - fitness, conditioning, ballet, dance, jump training, pilatus and stretching.
